Welcome to the Solemn Conferment of Degrees Ceremony!

The next Conferment of Degrees Ceremony for Masters and Doctors will be arranged on and around Saturday the 22th of May, 2004.

The Conferment of Degrees Ceremony is an academic festivity during which Masters, Doctors and Honorary Doctors from various disciplines are solemnly conferred. Only at the Degree Ceremony new Masters are adorned with the garlands and rings, and Doctors with hats and swords as symbols of their new status.

Besides the ceremonial act of conferment at noon on Saturday, the three day degree ceremony includes the garland-weaving and sword sharpening dinners on Friday, as well as a church service and a Ball on Saturday. On Sunday there will be a cruise to celebrate the new Masters and Doctors.

During the garland-weaving dinner, the guests of the Master Promovendi, the Masters to be conferred, will make Master´s garlands, and during the sword sharpening evening the Doctor Promovendi´s guests will assist with the sharpening of the doctoral sword. During the Ball the conferred Masters and Doctors will perform old dances, such as the polonaise, which will be rehearsed before the Degree Ceremony.
