The Conferment of Degrees Ceremony includes the ceremonial act of conferment at noon on Saturday (with an obligatory rehearsal on Friday) and the garland-binding dinner on Friday.
Participating in the Ball on Saturday and the cruise on Sunday is optional.
The garland binding dinner is arranged on the eve of the actual Degree Ceremony. Each Promovendi (Master to be conferred) has his/her own garland weaver, who makes him/her a laurel garland according to the Ceremonial Garland Weaver's instructions.
Old dances performed at the Ball are rehearsed during the spring. The timetable of the rehearsals will be sent to all Promovendi in February.

Costs of the Conferment of Degrees Ceremony
Participation fee for promovendi, 80 €
Escort´s fee 60 €
Includes Garland Binding Dinner and Degree Ceremony. The Promovendi will receive a Master´s Diploma with a latin-language certificate and the Invitation Book with the register of all Promovendi.
Attending in absence (absens), 60 €
Absens will receive a Master´s Diploma with a latin-language certificate and the Invitation Book with the register of all Promovendi.
Cost of the Dinner & Ball and Cruise:
Degree Ceremony Dinner and Ball 70 €
Includes dinner and wine, Ball and midnight snack.
Cruise 30 €
Includes cruise on Lake Päijänne and lunch at Savutuvan Apaja.
Inviting guests
Master Promovendi may invite up to two guests to watch the Ceremony at Jyväskylä Paviljonki. Number of guest seats is limited and they are reserved in the order of registration. The invitation fee is 20 € per person. We will confirm on February, how many guests you may invite.
Registration
You are kindly requested to register your participation by December 31, 2003.
Registration will be regarded as final. Cancellations will only be accepted in writing.
Please note that cancellations made after February 2 will incur a handling charge of 10 €.
There will be no reimbursement of attendance fees for any cancellations after April 23, 2003 except for medical reasons (medical certificate required).

Ring and dress code
You can purchase the Master´s Ring directly from a jeweller or join in the collective purchase at a cheaper price. The rings purchased collectively at the jeweller Ailio are as follows:
The 8 mm broad ring costs 166 € (normally 230 €) and the 8,5 mm broad one 189 € (normally 270 €). For Masters of Education, there is an optional, special ring which costs 250 € at Ailio.
It´s not necessary to buy a special Master´s Ring. You can also wear an ordinary ring during the Ceremony (in your left index-finger).
Promovendi attending the Ceremony are expected to follow traditional dress codes and etiquette.
Female Master Promovendi wear a full-length white dress, with white gloves and shoes. All shades of white from pure white to creamy white are allowed. The dress should be full-length so that wrists and ankles are covered, and the neckline should not be low. A jacket can be worn to cover a lower neckline during the actual ceremony, if the same dress is used in the evening. During other occasions women wear more informal dress.
At the act of conferment, men wear white tie, with a black vest during the day and white vest in the evening. Gloves are white. During other occasions men wear an informal suit.
Tailcoats and evening gowns can be rented. In Jyväskylä tailcoats are rented for example by Jyväskylän juhla-asu (Gummeruksenkatu 5), where tailcoat costs 100 € for the weekend.
