Eduroam - the wireless network of the academic world

Eduroam is a world-wide roaming access service that enables access to the wireless network of different academic institutions. Logging in to the network is done by using the user accounts of each organization that uses eduroam. This means that where ever eduroam is available, you can login to the wireless network by using your JYU username + password.

Each device needs to be properly configured once for eduroam to work.

To see a map of where eduroam is available please see here: http://monitor.eduroam.org/eduroam_map.php?type=all

Connecting to the eduroam network

Connecting to the eduroam-network is done almost the same way as connecting to other JYU wireless networks. The only difference is that you need to type in your username as username@jyu.fi (e.g. mameikal@jyu.fi). Note that the @jyu.fi does not mean an e-mail address in this case. It is only used to distinguish that users are from JYU.

On Windows, Mac OSX, Linux and iOS devices eduroam configuration can be done easily by downloading a configuration installer from: https://cat.eduroam.org/

Click the button where it says "eduroam user: download your eduroam installer" and select "University of Jyväskylä" as the organization. Then select your operating system and download & install the configuration file.
