Research and projects

Child and Family Research’s topics consist of the various phenomena that relate to children, childhood, young people and families. The welfare of families, diverse familial relations, the welfare and participation of children and issues relating to work-family balance are examples of its areas of interest. In addition to producing high-quality research, the Child and Family Research network supports postgraduate studies and postdoc research.

The Child and Family Research network includes over a hundred researchers and doctoral students from the University of Jyväskylä. Research on children and families is produced in the following faculties/units:

  • Faculty of Sport and Health Science
  • Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Faculty of Education and Psychology
  • Open University of the University of Jyväskylä
  • Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius

The Child and Family Research concentration also collaborates with various Finnish and international networks, partner universities and interest groups. The network’s research projects are funded by various sponsors. Several projects are funded by the Academy of Finland, and other sponsors include the Ministry of Education and Culture, the European Social Fund and various national institutions.
