Short description

In terms of wellbeing, commitment to work, participation and profitability it is important that professionals can take responsibility for their own professional development at different stages of their careers and that leadership supports this development. The aim of the CREANCY project is to explore what creative professional agency is in everyday software development and what kinds of conditions and constraints exist for exercising it. Three Finnish software development organizations participate in the project. We utilise a mixed-methods and ethnographic research approach, and researchers from the Department of Education and Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics participate in the project. The findings can be utilised in supporting the personnel’s professional regeneration, wellbeing and workplace learning, and in developing work practices and preventing financial and human losses caused by professionals’ malaise at the individual and collective levels.
