The most interesting experience studying in the ICC MA program is that I can actually play card games and do cultural experiments in courses. On one hand, I learn different theories and models of Intercultural Communication; on the other hand, I get a chance to develop practical applications through different kind of games, activities, projects, and campaigns. This is a typical approach to learning in the Finnish education system.

As an international student who has studied in Chinese for over twenty years, studying in an English-speaking environment and working on group assignments with team members from different countries, has been challenging. However, I have often drawn strength from the fact that this experience is an opportunity for me to develop the skills and competencies I need to be able to live and work in a culturally networked world.

The city of Jyväskylä is very peaceful and conducive for studies. The city is youthful and has many opportunities for socialization. During my studies in Jyväskylä, I participated in IDESCO hang out events with other international students. I also attended international get-togethers with Finnish enterprises and visited a Finnish company in Jyväskylä. Jyväskylä is diverse and I have had the opportunity to develop friendships and networks with people from different cultural, ethnic and professional backgrounds.

After my first year studying in the ICC MA program, I found an internship in Prague as a Digital Marketing intern. The best thing about this is that I did not have to worry about the cost of moving to Prague for my internship because I received a work / study grant from the university.
