CONFERENCE VENUE AND INFO DESK

The conference will take place in the Ruusupuisto building between the Seminaarinmäki Campus and the Mattilanniemi Campus. The street address of the conference venue is Alvar Aallon katu 9.

Ruusupuisto buildingThe Conference Info Desk is located on the first floor of the venue in Ruusupuisto building (RUU). The desk is open on Mon 9.00-18.00, Tue 8.30-17.30, Wed 8.30-15.30. You will recognize the members of the conference staff by their yellow name badge.

Walk the street in front of the railway station (Hannikaisenkatu) to the left (you pass yellow wooden buildings and Sokos Hotel Alexandra). After walking 200 meters turn right at the traffic lights and walk one block along Kilpisenkatu. Then turn to the left to Vapaudenkatu and walk as long as you can see the Ruusupuisto building.

Parking

There's a parking lot right next to the conference venue. Parking is subject to a charge. 

CONFERENCE BADGE

You receive your name badge when you register at the Conference Desk. The badge entitles you to enter all conference rooms and attend the academic events arranged for the participants, as well as coffee breaks. We kindly ask you to wear the badge at all times during the conference and also for the social events on Monday and Tuesday.

CLOAKROOM

There is a cloakroom on the first floor of the venue. It is not guarded, so please do not leave your valuables there.

COFFEE BREAKS AND LUNCHES

Coffee, tea and snacks are available for conference participants during the scheduled coffee breaks. They are included in the conference fee, and served in the lobby of Ruusupuisto building.

There are a few possible restaurants where you can have lunch. You can enjoy your lunch at Restaurant Uno (in the Ruusupuisto building), Lozzi (in the P building) or Piato (in the Agora building), they're are all located close to the venue. For locations, please consult the Campus map.

EVALUATION QUESTIONNAIRES/FEEDBACK ON THE CONFERENCE ARRANGEMENTS

To let us know your opinion about the conference, please fill in the questionnaire that will be sent to you via e-mail after the conference.

INTERNET ACCESS

Conference participants can access the Internet free of charge either by using the Eduroam network or the wireless guestnet network. If you wish to access the wireless network connection jyu-guest, please contact the Conference Info Desk.

LANGUAGE POLICY

English is the official language of the conference. However, we encourage the use of other languages in slides, handouts, etc. Unfortunately, no interpreting services can be provided for any session.

MESSAGES FOR PARTICIPANTS

All messages for participants will be placed on the notice board on the first floor of the venue close to the Conference Info Desk.

NOTICE BOARD

A notice board is located on the first floor of the venue. Possible changes and updates to the programme will be announced on the notice board at the start of each day. On the notice board, you will also find the sign-up sheets for workshops, and information on lunch menus in the campus restaurants.

SOCIAL PROGRAMME

The conference fee includes the welcoming reception on Monday 20 June at 17.00 (-18.00). The reception takes place in the main lobby of the Ruusupuisto building. After the reception, there will be a free Campus Walk in the spirit of the world-famous architect Alvar Aalto

The dinner cruise on s/s Suomi is on Tuesday 21 June at 18.00-21.00. The departure is from the City harbour (street address Satamakatu 8, Jyväskylä). The assistants will guide the guests on the 20 minute walk to the harbour from the conference venue starting 17.15. If you paid for the cruise when you registered for the conference, the ticket is in your name badge. If you wish to join the cruise but you haven't paid for it, please contact the Info Desk.

SOPPI UNIVERSITY SHOP

The university shop sells books, t-shirts, office supplies and souvenirs, among other things. The shop is located at the Seminaarinmäki Campus, next to the University Library (street address Seminaarinkatu 15). The shop is open Mon-Fri 10-15.

STAFF ASSISTANCE

There will be several assistants: they are responsible for taking care of the practical matters during the conference. They will be wearing yellow name badges.

ELECTRICITY

The electric current in Finland is 220V (230V), 50 Hz.

SMOKING POLICY

Smoking is prohibited indoors in public places and in public transportation in Finland, i.e. in the campus area you are only allowed to smoke outdoors. Please take notice of the signs "TUPAKOINTI KIELLETTY" (No smoking).

TIPPING

Tipping is not expected in restaurants, cafés or bars in Finland.
