Registration and Fees

Registration and payments for Childhood and Materiality 2018 Conference should be completed via the online registration form, which is available further below.  Registration is required for all persons attending the conference.

Participation categories and registration fees (VAT 0%)

  • Reduced fee for Early bird registration: until April 8
  • Normal registration fee: April 9-30
  • Late registration: from May 1 onwards 
  • Deadline for those with a presentation: April 10

To become a member of the Finnish Society for Childhood Studies, fill out the application form here (in Finnish) or here (in English). In order to be entitled to the membership discount at the conference, one should become a member by March 11, 2018.

To become a member of the BIN-Norden research network, fill out the application form and submit it to here. In order to be entitled to the membership discount at the conference, one should become a member by March 11, 2018.

Should you require a formal invitation letter to support a visa application, we will provide this to those who have had his/her presentation accepted for the conference and/or have paid the conference registration fee. Please send a request to the Organizing Committee via email: with the following:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Affiliation
  • Address
  • Passport number
  • Dates of travel to Finland
  • Title(s) of paper(s) submitted and/or conference booking number

Please note that the conference organizers, nor any of its partners, do not accept any responsibility for any financial loss relating to inability of an individual to obtain the requisite travel documents.

 Conference fee includes

  • Access to the conference sessions in Jyväskylä on May 7 -9, 2018
  • Confence materials
  • Refreshments during the scheduled breaks
  • Get-together on Monday evening, May 7

Reductions in the conference fee will not be made for any part of the participation package that is not used.

The fee does not include the following

  • Lunches - there are several affordable restaurant options on and near the campus, for more information see Venue and FAQ
  • Conference Dinner (costs 55 €)
  • Personal insurance - it is recommended that you have travel insurance

Accommodation is not included in the registration fee. Further details on accommodation options can be found in the Accommodation section of the conference website.

Please note that it is not possible to save data in the registration form, and that registration and payment must be completed in one session. Therefore, please ensure that you are ready to make your payment immediately upon completion of the registration form.

Receipts for credit card and online bank payments are automatically issued to the email address given.

Personal Data

The personal information you provide when you register for the event will be used by the hosting organization in connection with the administration of the event and may be shared with the service providers when necessary. Your name, affiliation and email may be published in the official delegate list. Please contact the conference secretariat should you wish it to be removed,

Cancellation policy

Cancellations with requests for registration refunds must be received in writing on or before April 8. EUR 50 processing fee will be applied to refund requests by the deadline given, eventual bank charges will also be deducted. The refunds will not be given for cancellations received after the given deadlines nor will they be given for failure to attend or unattended events. Refunds will be issued via the original payment method used and will be processed within 30 days that refund is approved. Please contact the secretariat at regarding all cancellations.
