Getting to Jyväskylä

It is advisable to book flights to Helsinki Airport only and to use the train connection to reach Jyväskylä. There is a train station at the Helsinki Airport. The train journey takes about 3–4 hours and you need to change train once or twice (in Tikkurila and with some connection in Tampere). The train is fast and comfortable, and the scenic train route offers excellent views of the Finnish countryside in summer. Fares for a single train ticket from Helsinki Airport to Jyväskylä costs from EUR 13 one way when you book early (normal fare EUR 37 one way). The train tickets can be bought online or at railway stations. It is recommended to buy the tickets in advance, if possible. Flights from Helsinki to Jyväskylä
The distance between the capital Helsinki and the city of Jyväskylä is approximately 270 km, and a flight from Helsinki to Jyväskylä takes about 50 minutes. The flights tend to be expensive so we recommend that you book a flight to Helsinki only and use either train or bus services to reach Jyväskylä.

Jyväskylä airport is situated in Tikkakoski, and the distance between the airport and the centre of Jyväskylä is 20 km. There is currently no regular bus connection from and to the airport. The journey by taxi takes about 15–20 minutes and costs about 40–60 €. If you want to book a taxi from the airport to Jyväskylä, please call +358 100 6900. Advance booking for taxi is recommended (taxis do not charge extra for waiting in case your flight is late).

Buses
You can also take a bus from the Helsinki Airport to Jyväskylä. Buses to Jyväskylä depart in front of the Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 on a regular basis. There are timetables available in the Terminal buildings, or you can consult online timetable. There are two main bus options: regular bus companies (both from the Airport as well as from Helsinki city center) or Onnibussi (only from Helsinki city center). The bus journey takes about 4–4,5 hours. A one-way ticket costs approx. EUR 30, but you can find good offers if you buy the tickets early on. The bus tickets can be bought online or directly from the driver with cash.
