Aspen Case Competition

Also this year JSBE participated, now for the ninth time, in the Aspen Case Competition.

Altogether four student teams tried to come  up with solutions to the brand new case authored by the Yale School of Management. The case centered around Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore and its sustainable future. This year’s winning team of the Jyväskylä on-campus round consisted of the CEM and DMC students Monika Bene, Sami El Genedy, Ekaterina von Brandenburg and Katharina Abelita.

Although, the on-campus judges were very impressed by the winning team’s proposal, their work was unfortunately not chosen to the finals in New York, unlike last year’s team. Nevertheless, through his many years of dedication in organizing the Aspen Case Competition at JSBE as well as being a finalist in the 2010’s competition, the Aspen Institute invited Stefan Baumeister to New York to share his thoughts about the impact of this program, both from a teacher’s and contestant perspective, in a speech at this year’s Aspen Case Competition finals on April 27.
