JYU improved its ranking among the world’s best universities

The University of Jyväskylä has raised its position in the QS World University Rankings. JYU’s position in the annual ranking was 336, while it was 357 last year. The list comprises only 1011 top universities of the world. Therefore, any position in the list is an achievement. Among Finnish universities, JYU’s position was the fourth.

The world with moth and bird eyes

Professor Johanna Mappes and postdoctoral researcher Bibiana Rojas Zuluaga from Department of Biological and Environmental Science at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland participated in international collaboration and researched how the wood tiger moths see the world with moth and bird eyes.

Language skills at age 2 onwards can predict PISA performance

A study carried out at the University of Jyväskylä has found that performance in the reading comprehension task of the OECD Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), taken at age 15, can be reliably predicted well before the beginning of school.
