Application period for JYU’s English-medium master’s degree programmes begins

The application period for JYU’s English-medium master’s degree programmes will start on Thursday, 15 November 2018. The six JYU faculties offer altogether 242 study places in 14 master’s degree programmes.

In terms of the number of applicants, the most popular programmes have been in Educaton and in Business and Economics. They are expected to interest applicants also in this application round.

A new study option is the Language, Globalisation and Intercultural Communication programme at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, which integrates the studies of intercultural communication and applied linguistics in a unique way. The graduates from this programme will have a wide range of employment opportunities, for example, in expert jobs in the fields of communication, education, and consulting as well as research. Also the research-oriented programme in Mathematics is a new one. In it you can specialise in analysis, geometry, inversion problems or stochastics, for example.

The English-medium programmes are available for Finnish and international applicants alike. Students who are not citizens of the EU/EEA countries are charged for a tuition fee. The fee varies by the programme, ranging from 8,000 to 12,000 euros. Students can also apply for a grant to cover the fee already when applying for the programme.

The University of Jyväskylä has annually more than a thousand foreign students, of whom about a half studies in English-medium Master’s degree programmes and the rest in doctoral programmes or as exchange students.

Persons with an applicable bachelor’s degree from Finland or abroad are eligible for the master’s degree programmes. The duration of the programmes is two years and the scope is 120 study credits. The studies take place in English.

Applications for the programmes are submitted via the Opintopolku.fi/Studyinfo.fi service. The deadline for applications is 10 January 2019, and the studies will begin in September 2019.
