Sergei Prozorov

Sergei ProzorovRector of the University of Jyväskylä Keijo Hämäläinen has appointed D.Soc.Sc., Docent Sergei Prozorov as Professor of Political Science (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy) from 1 August 2018.
 
Sergei Prozorov was born in Petrozavodsk, Russia on 31 March 1975. He defended his doctoral dissertation at the University of Tampere in January 2004 and subsequently held teaching and research positions at the Danish Institute for International Studies (2004), Petrozavodsk State University (2005-2007) and the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies (2007-2010). During 2010-2015 he was Academy of Finland Research Fellow. In 2010 he was granted the title of Docent by the University of Tampere. In June 2012 he was appointed University Lecturer in Political Science at the University of Helsinki. In February 2018, he was appointed Professor of Political Science at the University of Jyväskylä.
 
Prozorov is the author of 74 publications. He has published eight single-authored monographs with major international publishers, including Routledge, Palgrave and Edinburgh University Press. He has also published 29 articles in peer-reviewed international journals. Prozorov’s research interests include contemporary political theory, history of political thought, biopolitics, democracy and totalitarianism. He is presently Principal Investigator in the Academy of Finland research project ‘Biopolitics and Democracy in Global Governance’, which is part of the ‘Crises Redefined’ profiling area of research at the University of Jyväskylä.

Liisa Kurunmäki

Liisa KurunmäkiRector of the University of Jyväskylä Keijo Hämäläinen has appointed D.Sc. (Econ.), Docent Liisa Kurunmäki as Professor of Accounting (Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics) from 1 September 2018.
 
Liisa Kurunmäki syntyi Mikkelissä vuonna 1965 ja kirjoitti ylioppilaaksi Mikkelin Lyseon lukiosta vuonna 1984. Hän valmistui Jyväskylän yliopistosta maisteriksi vuonna 1989, lisensiaatiksi vuonna 1994 ja tohtoriksi vuonna 2000. Vuosina 1994-95 hän vieraili London School of Economics and Political Sciencessa ja vuosina 1996-97 Economic and Social Research Institutessa Dublinissa. Vuonna 1997 Kurunmäki nimitettiin laskentatoimen lehtoriksi Edinburghin yliopistoon, missä hän työskenteli vuoteen 1999. Hän siirtyi joulukuussa 1999 London School of Economics and Political Scienceen laskentatoimen lehtoriksi. Vuosina 2006-13 Kurunmäki toimi LSEssa Readerina ja vuodesta 2013 alkaen Associate Professorina. Kurunmäki nimettiin Jyväskylän yliopiston dosentiksi vuonna 2011.
 
Kurunmäen tutkimus kohdistuu julkisen sektorin laskentatoimeen. Tutkimuksissaan hän on analysoinut erityisesti suomalaisen ja brittiläisen terveydenhuollon reformeja laskentatoimen näkökulmasta. Tutkimustyössään hän on osallistunut lukuisiin kansainvälisiin tutkimushankkeisiin. Hän on julkaissut tutkimustyönsä tuloksia tutkimusalansa arvostetuimmissa lehdissä, arvioinut artikkeleita alansa korkeatasoisiin akateemisiin julkaisusarjoihin ja toiminut kansainvälisesti meritoituneiden tieteellisten lehtien toimitusneuvoston jäsenenä.
 

Chiara Valentini

Chiara ValentiniRector of the University of Jyväskylä Keijo Hämäläinen has appointed Ph.D. Chiara Valentini as Professor of Corporate Communication (Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics) from 1 September 2018.
 
Chiara Valentini was born in Venice, Italy, on 11 January 1979, and was academically formed in Italy, Canada and Finland. She gained her PhD in Organizational Communication and Public Relations in 2008 from the University of Jyväskylä and held a tenured position as Associate Professor of Corporate Communication at Aarhus University, School of Business and Social Sciences, Denmark, until summer 2018. Previously, she has worked as a media analyst in Switzerland and consulted organizations and public institutions of several countries.
 
Her research interests include corporate communication and stakeholder relations, political public relations and public affairs, crisis communication, and digital media. Dr. Valentini has written and co-written over 130 publications, including four books. Her research has resulted in a number of award-winning prizes for top papers and a competitive research award (2013) for best research of the year at Aarhus University.
 
She serves as a reviewer and member of the editorial board of several international peer-review journals. Dr. Valentini has held and hold several positions of trust among international organizations such the International Communication Association (ICA) and European Public Relations Education and Research Association (EUPRERA). Since 2016 she is part of the jury committee of Digital Communications Awards, selecting best digital professional communication campaigns of companies and organizations.
