The Ambassador of Hungary visits the University of Jyväskylä

During his visit, Ambassador György Urkuti will acquaint himself with the graphics exhibition by István Orosz in Agora and give a public lecture on Hungarian politics.

The new Ambassador of Hungary, Dr György Urkuti is, by his own words, a long-standing friend of Finland and Finnish people. He fell for the Finnish language in his teens already – thanks to the excellent Finnish language teachers he had in Budapest.

During his studies in economics he spent one academic term as an exchange student at the University of Helsinki, which deepened his relationship to this distant kin language. Ambassador Urkuti is familiar with Jyväskylä as well: In last October he attended the 60th anniversary celebration of the local Finnish-Hungarian Association.

Dr Urkuti will visit Jyväskylä again on Wednesday, 13 February. In the morning he will acquaint himself with the graphics works of István Orosz, which are exhibited in Agora. After this, he will give a public review on Hungarian politics. The lecture is held in English and in the Liikunta building.

Ambassador Urkuti holds a doctoral degree in international relations. During Hungary’s EU Presidency he led the press department. Before his civil servant career he worked in the foreign news department of Világgazdaság, a business daily newspaper.

You are warmly welcome!
