Heroes of research and teaching awarded in the Annual Celebration

The traditional annual celebration of the University of Jyväskylä was held on 6 March. In the event, awards were granted to distinguished researchers and teachers from the University. The awards were donated by the Jyväskylä University Foundation. In addition, the awards of Ellen and Artturi Nyyssönen Foundation and Aino Sallinen Trust were also handed in the event. The programme of the event included performances from the VUO orchestra and the body percussion group KOPS.

Heikki Lyytinen’s UNESCO chair extended

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has signed a UNESCO chair agreement with the University of Jyväskylä for 2019–2023 under the theme “Inclusive Literacy Learning for All.” Heikki Lyytinen, Emeritus Professor of Developmental Neuropsychology, already held the UNESCO chair during the previous four-year period from 2015 to 2019.

Studies of coordination compounds of platinum(II) have provided many important discoveries in coordination chemistry in the past, and allow the development of new drugs and functional materials in the present. In his dissertation M.Sc. Evgeny Bulatov has surveyed, systematized, and expanded the knowledge of the chemistry of platinum(II) complexes.

Climate University goes Jyväskylä on March 29th

Climate University is a joint project of 11 universities in Finland to foster climate change and sustainability education. In 2019-2020, we make new online courses and materials on these topics, and workshops for university teachers and other collaborators. The Climate University workshop at Jyväskylä on March 29th 2019.
