DEMO Seminar: a talk on Data-driven Evolutionary Optimization by visiting Professor Yaochu Jin (University of Surrey, UK)

21.5.2019 10:15 — 12:00

Location: Mattilanniemi, Ag D 225.1
DEMO Research Project Seminar on Data-driven Evolutionary Optimization.

Speaker: Professor Yaochu Jin (University of Surrey, UK):
Data-driven Evolutionary Optimization: Online and Offline Model Management

Prof. Yaochu Jin (University of Surrey, UK, has earlier been a FiDiPro professor at our university. His talk is very closely related to the DEMO (Decision Analytics utilizing Causal Models and Multiobjective Optimization) profiling area of our university, .

Data-driven surrogate-assisted evolutionary optimization has attracted increasing attention in the communities of evolutionary computation, engineering design and machine learning as well. This talk is going to introduce the basic ideas of surrogate-assisted evolutionary optimization, followed by a detailed discussion of different Bayesian approaches to surrogate management.

We will then present a few recent advances in offline model management methods. The talk is concluded by examples of surrogate-assisted optimization in solving real-world problems.

You are warmly welcome!
