JYU keeps its position in the CWTS Leiden Ranking

This year the University of Jyväskylä’s position in the CWTS Leiden Ranking is 632, the sixth best of Finnish universities. Last year JYU’s position was 620.

The ranking lists universities on the basis of their publications. The new list comprises almost one thousand universities from all over the world, including eight from Finland.

For the comparison, CWTS Leiden uses citation indices from the Web of Science database. The ranking takes into account the most cited 10% of publications in the field. It uses a fractional counting method, meaning that the impact of a publication is lower if the authors are from several universities. For the first time, this year’s ranking also covered open publishing and the share of female authors of publications, in which Finnish universities manage well especially in the fields of humanities and social sciences.
