JYUNewsItem Processing of tone frequency differences in the newborn brain is associated with later pre-reading and reading skills
The researchers at the University of Jyväskylä have studied how the brain activity measured at infancy is related to reading related language skills and reading itself. Paavo Leppänen (Docent, PhD) has recently published with his research group a result showing that the newborn brain responses to changes in tone frequency are associated with later phonological skills related to manipulation and perception of speech sounds before school-age and to reading skills at the second grade in school.
