Centres of Excellence in Research 2012‒2017 selected from the University of Jyväskylä are: the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Nuclear and Accelerator based Physics, Rauno Julin, and the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Biological Interactions Research, Johanna Mappes. University of Jyväskylä also cooperates with the University of Tampere in the Centre of Excellence “The History of a Society: Re-thinking Finland 1400‒2000”.

The Nanoscience Center (NSC) of University of Jyväskylä organizes an International Symposium on Monolayer-Protected Clusters (ISMPC11) in hotel Laajavuori June 6-9, 2011. About 20 experts from Europe, the US, Japan and Finland will lecture in the Symposium, which is expected to have about 50 participants from 14 countries.
