QS Ranking: Six JYU disciplines among the world’s best

Research in education at the University of Jyväskylä was ranked high in the QS World University Rankings by Subject. Education was ranked the same as last year, 101–150. As in previous years, physics was ranked 301–350 and mathematics 351–400. Psychology returned to the list with position 251–300. This year sociology climbed to the list for the first time (251–300). Sports sciences were now evaluated for the first time, and Jyväskylä was ranked 51–100.

For humanities the position was 401–450 and for natural sciences 451–500.

- It is delightful that the University’s long-term strategic work to strengthen our core fields also results in good positions in international comparisons, says Rector Matti Manninen.

QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluates universities in 46 distinct disciplines. The ranking is based on the following indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation and citations per paper as well as the productivity and impact of the published work of scientists or scholars. Data was collected from 4,438 universities, of which 3,098 were evaluated and the best 1,117 were ranked.
