Santtu Tikka wins outstanding master's thesis award on statistics

M.Sc. Santtu Tikka has been awarded the national Leo Törnqvist prize for the best master's thesis in statistics in 2015–2016. The prize was given by Finnish Statistical Society. The Finnish Statistical Society gives a Leo Törnqvist award for an outstanding master's degree thesis in statistics completed in the last two years.

In the award-winning work Santtu Tikka implemented tools for causal inference and published them as an open source package for the R software. Tikka completed his thesis at Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the University of Jyväskylä under the supervision of Professor Juha Karvanen.

Finnish Statistical Society is a scientific society for Finnish statisticians and students in the statistics. The purpose of advancing research, teaching and applications of statistics and bringing together statisticians. Leo Törnqvist was one of the first professors of statistics in Finland.
