University of Jyväskylä performing steadily in CWUR university ranking

The University of Jyväskylä was ranked to the 638th place in the latest international CWUR list (Center for World University Rankings), which covered more than 27,000 universities granting academic degrees. Hence, JYU is among the top 2.3% of universities in the world. The best 1,000 universities involved in the comparison were ranked based on a set of qualitative indicators for education, teaching and research. Last year JYU’s ranking was 629. Among Finnish Universities, JYU came seventh in the latest ranking. CWUR measures, among other things, the quality of education, alumni employment, publications, influence, and patents. In the quality of education, JYU’s ranking is 383, in alumni employment 597, in the quality of faculty 240, in publications 514, in broad impact 574, and in patents 754.

CWUR university rankings have been published annually by an originally Saudi, now UAE-based consultancy organisation since 2012. At first the list covered only the top 100 universities, but in 2014 it was expanded to the top 1,000.
