University of Jyväskylä

Fair Trade week is here again!

Start date: Oct 23, 2017 07:00 AM

End date: Oct 29, 2017 11:45 PM

The University of Jyväskylä has been a Fair Trade University since 2014. Fairtrade Finland granted the title because JYU has pledged its support to Fair trade and a selection of fair trade products are offered in, for example, JYU’s cafeterias and restaurants. Fair Trade week is celebrated on October 23rd – 29th.

University Shop Soppi offers a selection of, for example, T-shirts and bags made of fair trade cotton. Soppi also sells superfood products of a family business from Jyväskylä, Foodin. Their goods are produced from fair trade raw materials – just like the University’s own coffee, Rehtorin juhlavampi mokka.

The Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä is also participating in the Fair Trade week. The union’s Ethical October event organises the Fair Vegan Café as well as the Urban Bazaar, which combines a flea market, music, and the sweetest and fairest goods.
