Under the title of “Right to language” we kick off the event with talks by Fatim Diarra and Johanna Ennser-Kananen. Fatim Diarra is from a bilingual family and she has worked as a teacher for immigrant children in Vantaa. She has a long history in working for the rights of international students.

Johanna Ennser-Kananen is a former language teacher and now works as a researcher of multilingual and multicultural education. Fatim and Johanna will invite us to think critically about the topic of rights and access to language(s). After a well-deserved coffee break, we will hear several teachers’, scholars’, and community members’ perspectives on issues related to having or not having the right to language. Most importantly, we want to hear from you! We will offer a variety ways for you to participate and engage, so don’t miss this opportunity for interactive and interdisciplinary dialogue! Come, listen, learn, share your thoughts, and enjoy good company!
