IT Faculty’s team won Future City Challenge in Jyväskylä

The LORIOTs team made a digital solution with real-time tracking and machine learning technologies for smart street tracking. In team innovation, the car driver is able to check the free parking space in the city in real-time or to ask for a prediction in the future.

The team used all the digital platforms offered for competition, namely the country-wide wireless network based on LoRaWAN technology provided by Digita and IBM's Bluemix innovation platform, IBM Watson Intelligence and IoT Platform. In addition, teams gained access to the city's open data with support from Etteplan's leading IoT expert organization.

The LORIOTs team consists of six members, all of whom have strong expertise in different areas of information technology. Part of the team works at the Faculty of Information Technology of the University of Jyväskylä. The LORIOTs team was formed and led by Postdoctoral Researcher in Cybersecurity Andrei Costin.
