New practices for doctoral students: registration for attendance and supervision document

Doctoral students continuing their studies will register for attendance for the academic year 2018–2019 in the OILI service. After the registration period, all doctoral students who have registered for attendance must save a supervision document in the new supervision document service.

Registration in the OILI service from 2 May to 31 July 2018

For all doctoral students who will continue their studies in the academic year 2018–2019, the attendance registration will take place in the OILI service from 2 May to 31 July 2018. Doctoral students log in to OILI service with their JYU user ID.

New doctoral students admitted in spring 2018 must register by completing the enrolment form they have received with the admission letter and returning it to the faculty by 31 July 2018. Starting from the student admission of autumn 2018, also new doctoral students will register in the OILI service.

New supervision document service introduced in August 2018

Starting from August 2018, doctoral students will register their supervision documents in a new supervision document service, which replaces the Korppi supervision documents. In August 2018, all doctoral students who have registered for attendance for the academic year 2018–2019 will receive an email with a link to the supervision document service and instructions for saving a supervision document.

A supervision document includes a collaboratively created supervision plan and completion schedule for the doctoral dissertation. The purpose of the supervision document is to clarify the responsibilities of dissertation supervisors and doctoral students and to promote the completion of doctoral studies.

Doctoral students log in to the service with their JYU user ID, fill in the document and send it to their supervisor-in-charge for review. The document is complete when the student and the supervisor have confirmed it in the service. The supervision document is updated and confirmed annually after the attendance registration period, and when necessary.

The practice of supervisory documents was adopted at the University's Graduate School in 2013. The present supervision documents will remain in Korppi. However, from 2 May 2018, it is no more possible to register new supervision documents or update the existing documents in Korppi.
