Open University

The Open University’s offerings include research ethics. The Open University’s courses are subject to a fee. Those in an employment relationship with the University of Jyväskylä are usually entitled to a fifty per cent discount on the fees; some of the course offerings are also free due to staff training support. The language of the courses is usually Finnish.

Ethical Committee

The University of Jyväskylä Ethical Committee is in charge of providing information about issues related to ethics, particularly research ethics, and stimulating and maintaining discussion on ethics-related issues within the academic community. The Ethical Committee also provides statements on research projects in which human participants are studied in a way that may jeopardize their health or legal rights.

Methodology Centre for Human Sciences IHME

IHME provides general scientific courses on the ethical questions in science. The courses provided by IHME are open for all doctoral students at the University of Jyväskylä. It is recommended to register early for the courses, as they are filled up quickly. The language of the courses is Finnish or English.

Research Ethics Open Learning Course

Doctoral students and staff of the University of Jyväskylä can access open learning area for Research Ethics to study research ethics independently. However, one cannot complete a course to gain credit points.To complete a Research Ethics Course, you need to enrol onto one of the research ethics courses of the Methodology Centry for Human Sciences (IHME).

Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy

The department provides studies on ethics open to all students at the University of Jyväskylä. You can complete either either individual courses or larger study modules. The language of most of the courses is Finnish.
