Open University

At the Open University of the University of Jyväskylä, you can complete courses related to, for example, adult education, leadership, personnel management or planning and managing development projects. Open University courses are subject to a fee. Those in an employment relationship with the University of Jyväskylä are usually entitled to a fifty per cent discount on the fees. Some of the course offerings are also free due to staff training support. The language of the courses is usually Finnish.

Open University studies as staff training

Faculty of Education

The Faculty of Education organises Basic Studies in University Pedagogy (YPE) as part of University staff training. Staff members (in an employment relationship with the University) can apply for admission to the training. The programme is designed principally for teaching staff. The language of the courses is Finnish, but there is a learning group for the international teaching staff as well.

Language Centre

Language Centre arranges Teaching Academic Content through English (TACE) staff training course for the University staff that is teaching in English. The course combines various teaching methods in a multicultural and multilingual group to bring awareness and pedagogical skills to bear on the modern, international classroom. Staff training course is an option for doctoral students who are in an employment relationship with the university in a teaching position.
