Academy Research Fellow Tuuli Lähdesmäki

Tuuli Lähdesmäki studies the EU’s politics of cultural heritage through her EUROHERIT project. It is vital to understand the processes and politics of cultural heritage, because they can be used to strengthen a common European identity, but also to promote exclusionary and one-sided interpretations of the past.

The results of the project have use for researchers, officials and decision-makers in the field of cultural heritage. The research is important because it enhances understanding of the meanings of cultural heritage, makes its processes more transparent, and offers tools for its critical evaluation.
