Our campus

The Summer School will take place on the Ylistönrinne and Mattilanniemi science campuses by the Lake Jyväsjärvi, ca. 1.5 kilometres from the Jyväskylä city centre. The campus is just less than 10 minutes away from the city centre by foot. The Nanoscience Center and the departments of Biological and Environmental Science, Chemistry, and Physics are within a five-minute walk over a walking bridge on the other side of the lake. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the Faculty of Information Technology are located on the Mattilanniemi campus.

The University of Jyväskylä is a nationally and internationally significant research university focusing on human and natural sciences. JYU is a popular multidisciplinary university with a total of six faculties and about 15,000 students. The core fields in research and education are Natural Sciences, Sport and Health Sciences, and Teacher Education.
