The City of Jyväskylä is located in Central Finland, some 270 kilometres north of Helsinki, and can easily be reached by plane, train or coach.

By plane

Most of the flights to Finland arrive at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport (about 20 kilometres from the centre of Helsinki). Should you continue by plane, you will arrive at Jyväskylä (Tikkakoski) airport some 40 minutes after take-off.

The Jyväskylä (Tikkakoski) airport is located about 20 kilometres from the city centre.

You can take a taxi from the airport to the centre of Jyväskylä. The taxi journey from the airport to Jyväskylä takes 15-20 minutes and costs €35–40. You can either book a taxi in advance (recommended by the taxi service) or use the free telephone inside the airport to call for a taxi. To book a taxi in advance, please call +358 100 6900. The advance booking costs €6.80  and is added to the total sum of the taxi ride. If you choose not to book a taxi in advance, be prepared to wait for it for a little while.

If you arrive at the Tampere-Pirkkala airport, take a bus or taxi to the centre of Tampere (the trip will take about 40 minutes). From the Tampere city centre you can continue to Jyväskylä by train or coach. See information on the connections to and from the Tampere-Pirkkala airport.

By ferry

It is also possible to arrive in Finland by ferry via Stockholm, Tallinn, Rostock or Travemünde. The destinations in Finland are Helsinki and Turku from where you can continue by plane (only Helsinki), train or coach to Jyväskylä.
