The accelerator technology team provides beams from the cyclotron and makes a strong international contribution to this field.
Research in the ion source group consists of production and development of ion beams and development of ion sources for the needs of nuclear physics experiments.
The IGISOL group studies the properties of nuclei far off the line of beta stability.
Instruments and Methods in Nuclear, Particle, and Astroparticle Physics
The scope of activities of our group is very broad. It reaches into both extremes of available particle energies. At CERN LHC we shall investigate ultra relativistic collisions, whereas at ILL we are measuring thermal neutron induced fission.
The Gamma and RITU groups specialise in nuclear structure studies of exotic nuclei, mainly along the proton drip line and in the region of superheavy elements.
The theoretical nuclear physics group develops microscopic nuclear models and applies them to nuclei of current interest for both the traditional nuclear spectroscopy and for processes involving connections to modern particle-physics theories.
New research directions and activities linking the accelerator facility with the Nanoscience Center of the University of Jyväskylä are the responsibilities of the accelerator based materials physics team.
The JYFL Accelerator Laboratory offers excellent conditions for applied science,and a special program for transfer of nuclear- and accelerator-based technologies into commercial use has been initiated.
