Travel and accommodation
The summer school fee includes accommodation from the 7th to the 19th of August, 2011 at the Summer Hotel Rentukka. Twin rooms with a private bedroom and a shared kitchen+toilet have been booked for attending students. Breakfast is included.
When you arrive, you can take a bus (lines 18 and 25) to Rentukka . The bus station is approx. 200 m from the train station (see map: Bus station).
The teachers of the Summer School will be staying at Hotel Alba.

How to get to Jyväskylä
The city of Jyväskylä is located in Central
Finland, some 270 km north of Helsinki, and is best reached by plane,
train or bus/coach. The connections are relatively frequent and the
from Helsinki to Jyväskylä takes 3-3½ hours by train.
Most of the flights to Finland arrive at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (about 20 km from the centre of Helsinki). From Helsinki-Vantaa Airport you may continue by plane, train, or by bus to Jyväskylä. Should you continue by plane, you will arrive at Jyväskylä airport some 25 minutes after the take-off. The airport is located about 16 km from the centre of Jyväskylä. If you arrive at Tampere-Pirkkala Airport, take a bus or a taxi to the centre of Tampere. For more information, please see the website. You can continue your journey to Jyväskylä by train or bus/coach.
By Ferry to Finland
There are frequent ferry connections to Helsinki
via Stockholm or Tallinn, and also from Travemünde and Rostock. Please

You can also take a bus to Helsinki railway station. The fare of the FINNAIR bus is approximately €6. There is also a local bus connection, numbers 415 (platform 5), 451 (platform 5) and 615 (platform 21), to the railway station (bus fare €4). It will take some 35 minutes to get to the railway station, where you can catch the train to Jyväskylä.
There are direct connections to Jyväskylä, but in some cases you will have to change trains at Tampere. The journey to Jyväskylä takes 3 to 3½ hours. The train fare (one way) varies from €45 to 52 from Tikkurila and €47-54 from Helsinki (seat reservation included in the price). Unfortunately, you cannot get any discount with the ISIC card (International Student Identity Card) on trains.
There is also a bus connection from
Helsinki-Vantaa Airport to Jyväskylä. The trip will take 4 -5 hours and
costs approximately €44.
