Instructions for supervisors on examining doctoral research projects in Korppi

The enrolment of a doctoral student is done using the Korppi system. During the annual enrolment for either attendance or non-attendance, doctoral students report what they have done in their postgraduate studies during the past year and what they plan to do over the current year. Additionally, they fill in an electronic supervision document, updating it if necessary.

Each supervisor sees all the data provided by their supervisees (enrolment form and supervision document) and the so-called public information (title, short public description, and keywords) on the theses of all doctoral students at the faculty. Below you can find short instructions on how to see the data of your supervisees. To see the data, you need a user account.

Examining the information on one's supervisees: a link in an email message

  1. The easiest way to see the information on one’s own supervisee is through the link in an email message (the subject line of the message reads: “Jatko-opiskelijan_nimi: Kyselyihin on vastattu!”). The message contains a link in the following format: “Linkki opinnäytteeseen Korppi-järjestelmässä: https://korppi.jyu.fi/kotka/assignment/assignment.jsp?assid=000”
  2. Click on the link to open the login page of Korppi.
  3. Enter your username and password.
  4. Logging in will take you to the main page of the student’s thesis. On the General data tab you can see the public information of the research (short research plan, title, and keywords).
  5. The answers provided by the student can be seen on the Surveys tab. From the menu, select “student” as a respondent and from the questionnaires either “Enrolment for postgraduate studies” or “Postgraduate student supervision document”. Finally, click on the button that says “Review answers”.

Locating a project using the Korppi selection tree

  1. Navigate to the Korppi website through, for example, the University main page http://www.jyu.fi/en > Uno Staff portal > Korppi or using the direct link http://korppi.jyu.fi .
  2. Enter your username and password.
  3. To see the information on your own supervisees, select Teaching > Supervising from the menu on the left. On the Supervising page, you will see a list of all your supervisees.
  4. To see the information on a specific supervisee, click on the title of the work in question. This will take you to the General data tab of the thesis in question.
  5. To see the answers provided by the supervisee, choose the Surveys tab. From the menu that launches, select “student” as a respondent and either “Enrolment for postgraduate studies” or “Postgraduate student supervision document”. Finally, click on the button that says “Review answers”.
  6. You can use the enrolment form to comment on the answers provided by the supervisee. The comments are visible to the supervisee and other supervisors.
