Finnish history

My research interests include gender history, history of education, history of youth, and biographical research. In addition, I am interested in cultural heritage studies, which I have studied at Aarhus University in Denmark.

My PhD dissertation focuses on Yrjö Karilas’ lifework in the fields of boys’ work and boys’ literature, 1910–1970. I have also written an article about the articulation of the “boy problem” in Finland in the 1920’s.

My master’s thesis won the first price in the competition for youth research theses, which was organized by the Finnish Youth Research Society in 2014.

I am a member of the department’s research center of Gender Studies, Childhood and Education research group, and the multidisciplinary network of gender research Kantti.
