Required literature

The required literature for each course is found in the curriculum (under your subject on this website). A curriculum is a document that is in force for two years at a time, including a plan for students’ progress in both their major (history or ethnology) and minor subject studies (see the curriculum [OPS] accordingly). The curriculum is confirmed by the Faculty Council, and it is a binding document between the Department and its students.

Some of the examination literature is optional and available in the University’s Main Library. The required and optional examination books available in the Department’s libraries (the history and ethnology libraries found in the same facilities in Historica) are not loaned since they are reserved for the use of examiners in preparing questions for examinations. The Department’s libraries are reference libraries, i.e. they are in research use. However, students can loan literature for their thesis under teachers’ supervision if needed.
