COMA101 Finnish Media & Communication System, 5 ECTS

Aims and content: The course will introduce the students to the history, development and the present directions of Finnish media. The themes are: newspapers, radio, tv, media convergence, information society. Weekly assignments, discussions in Moodle-environment, an essay (about 6 pages).

COMA102 Current Issues in Communication Studies: Perspectives on Computer Mediated Communication, 5 ECTS
Co-ordinator: Lecturer Sanna Kivimäki, University of Tampere and visiting instructors
Aims and content: The course aims to give an overview of Finnish communication Studies on computer mediated  communication. The selection of recent articles will be divided into different themes: e.g. scientific and journalistic communication and interpersobal interaction in networks.  Preassignment, weekly assignments, discussions in Moodle-environment, learning diary.

Mode of study: A webcourse, no contact teaching.
Aims and content: Multidisciplinary Current Issues -course aims to give an overview of Finnish communication studies on democracy and citizenship. Each week you'll be required to do different activities, usually based on at least one of the provided articles. Weekly discussions and learning diaries. Preassignment.

COMA118 Current Issues in Communication Studies: Perspectives on Rhetorics, Persuasion and Effects, 5 ECTS credits

COMA106 History of PR and Propaganda , 4 ECTS credits

COMA110 Technologically Mediated Communication, 4-6 ECTS credits

COMA116 Development Journalism, 4 ECTS credits

Aims and content: The course aims at introducing the students to different aspects of development journalism and international co-operation. The students get basic knowledge of the operators and aims of international development co-operation and also of the role of media in reporting issues having to do with international co-operation and development.
