Internship in the Intercultural Communication Master's programme

The Master’s Degree studies in Intercultural Communication include an obligatory practical part. Typically, this means performing an internship of 2 - 3 months. The internship may be conducted in a traditional job format (paid or volunteer) in an organization featuring clear intercultural communication contexts.

The internship is guided by an internship report (IR). You need to design and negotiate your IR plan with University Lecturer Marko Siitonen at least 2 - 3 weeks before the beginning of your internship. A final version of the IR plan will be started during the first two weeks of the internship. Completion of the final IR should be aimed at latest 6 weeks after the internship ended. The IR and other internship related information will be given to students during the Internship and Career Development orientation -course and is also available at https://koppa.jyu.fi/avoimet/viesti/intercultural-communication.

At the end of the process, the development and achievement of the stated objectives is verified in your IR according to the general guidelines. You are expected to produce and return your Final Internship Report within 4 - 6 weeks after finishing the internship. This time span guarantees that the internship is still fresh in your mind, but you also have some distance from the experience.
