Information for incoming exchange students

Note that the courses offered by the English section of the Department of Languages are open only to students coming within the exchange agreements of the English Section, that is from the following universities:

C1 level in English is required to attend our courses.

If there are places on our courses, we may be able to take to our courses some extra students who study English as their major / minor subject at their home university and are coming through

  • bilateral agreements from outside Europe
  • Erasmus agreements of other disciplines of the Department of Languages (French, German, Swedish, Russian, Finnish)
  • Erasmus / bilateral agreements of the Faculty of Education

In order to participate in the courses a very good command of English (a TOEFL score of 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based) or 100 (iBT) or an IELTS score of 7.0) is required. Even then the participation in the courses is limited, and enrolment in a particular course cannot be guaranteed.

Please contact the Departmental Coordinator well in advance if you fulfill these criteria and would like to attend our courses! Please include in your email also your transcript of records (unofficial print-out is enough).

Other students should choose English courses offered by the Language Centre.

About the English section

The English section is the largest of the foreign language sections of the Department of Languages, part of the Faculty of Humanities. The English section focuses on the study of contemporary English. Students can choose from two lines of specialization. The main areas of research are language learning and teaching; sociolinguistics, in particular linguistic diversity and multilingual practice; discourse and interaction, and literacy studies.
