Fokus på uttalsinlärningen med svenska som mål- och källspråk

The project focuses on how speaker's first language (mother tongue) influences the second language pronunciation, what kind of phonetic features are difficult to learn despite of learner's first language, what kind of individual differences can be found, how foreign accented speech is perceived and what teaching methods are effective in learning L2 pronunciation at adult age?

 The first or target language in the project is (Finland-)Swedish and other languages to be studied are Finnish, Russian and English. Pronunciation learning is investigated in a number of ways, e.g. acoustically using both spontaneous and read-aloud data (also longitudinally) and in teaching experiments. The results are applied in foreign language teacher training.

 The project is funded by Svenska litteratursällskapet i Finland r.f. (SLS) and University of Jyväskylä 2015-2019.
