Hilde Sollid

Hilde Sollid is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of languages and linguistics at the University of Tromsø where she received her PhD in 2003. In the PhD project she investigated the language encounter between Kven and Norwegian in Nordreisa, North Norway, focussing on the development of the Norwegian ethnolect.

Sollid is currently investigating language contact and language choice among Kven people in three North Norwegian communities: Kirkenes, Nordreisa and Tromsø. Key words for this study are: individual linguistic variation, narratives, norm enforcement, authenticity.
