Sari Pietikäinen

Professor Sari Pietikäinen is the leader of 3M Identity in Motion network.

Sari Pietikäinen is Professor of Discourse Studies at the University of Jyväskylä. Her main fields of interest and research are discourse studies, multilingualism and media studies. Her work is critical discourse analytically oriented, but she also draws on perspectives from sociolinguistics and ethnography. Sari´s more recent work focuses on issues of multilingualism in minoritized language communities, including visual and mediated expressions and performances of multilingualism.

She is the leader of the project “Northern multilingualism: Discourses, practices and experiences of linguistic diversity in North Calotte”, funded by the Finnish Academy 2008-2011. She is also the project leader for “3M Identity in motion – research network”, funded by the Nordforsk 2009-2011.
