An essay includes also argumentation and different perspectives to the topic. The text is to be clear and consistent. The author is to use professional terminology and appropriate language.

Book exam
You read literature specifically agreed on with the lecturer/professor, write essays and/or take a written examination after completing the necessary readings. Usually that means reading several books before an exam and answering questions on all those books separately. Book examinations are taken on faculty examination days. Registration for the book examinations is done in the Korppi system. Instructions on how to choose relevant literature for examinations and how to take an examination are found in the curriculum.
