Travelling to Jyväskylä

Jyväskylä can be accessed by rail, bus and domestic flights from Helsinki, Tampere, or Turku. The airport of Jyväskylä is 20 km north of the city in Tikkakoski and only taxi connections are available to the city center. The estimated costs per one way is ~50€, and it is recommended that travellers reserve a taxi in advance especially if arriving late in the evening.
Helsinki-Vantaa airport is easily accessible from around the world and you can take a train or a bus directly from the Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Jyväskylä. Train and bus connections are also available from the Airport in Tampere or Turku. Matkahuolto and Savonlinja busses leave directly from Helsinki airport. While Onnibus also sells bus tickets to Jyväskylä, their busses leave from Helsinki Kamppi, not the airport. The main drop off point for busses and trains from other areas is the Jyväskylä Travel Center (Jyväskylän Matkakeskus).
It is also possible to travel to Finland by ferry from neighbouring countries. There are harbours in Helsinki, Turku, and Vaasa. Main ferry routes are Tallinn-Helsinki, St. Petersburg-Helsinki, and Stockholm-Turku. Visit http://www.directferries.com/finland.htm for more information and prices.
