Active cooperation

SOLKI is actively engaged in cooperating with both domestic and international partners. Contracts for cooperation have been signed with universities abroad and joint research projects carried out. Language teaching and teacher training have been developed together with the university language centres. The National Certificates are developed in cooperation with the National Board of Education. There have been several joint European projects in research and training, the most important of these being DIALANG.

The centre aims at advancing the teaching of the mother tongue and foreign languages in Finland, and Finnish language education in general. Research workers have good contacts with, for example, the unions of mother tongue and foreign language teachers as well as other actors in the field of language education. Working together is better than working alone – this was discovered by both the National Language Centre and the Language Centre for Finnish Universities, and the Centre for Applied Language Studies wants to continue the tradition of cooperation.
