General information

COFFEE BREAKS

Coffee, tea, fruit, and cookies are available for registered conference participants during the scheduled coffee breaks.

 

CLOAKROOM

There is a cloakroom on the ground floor of the venue. It is not guarded, so please leave your valuables in your hotel.

 

COMPUTER AND INTERNET ACCESS

Conference participants can use computers and access the Internet free of charge in one of the computer Rooms of Building

 

CONFERENCE BADGE

Your conference package includes your name badge. The badge entitles you to enter all conference rooms and attend the academic events arranged for the participants, as well as to attend coffee breaks, the reception by the City of Jyväskylä and the get-together party. We kindly ask you to wear the badge at all times during the conference. The members of the organizing team are wearing blue badges.

 

CONFERENCE DESK

The Conference Desk is located on the ground floor of the venue. You can recognize the members of the conference staff by their blue name badges.

 

ELECTRICITY

The electric current in Finland is 220V (230V), 50 Hz.

LANGUAGE POLICY

The official language of the conference is English, but we encourage the participants to present their slides also in another language.

 

LUNCHES

There are a few possible restaurants at which you can have lunch. Restaurant Musica is situated on the ground floor of the venue. You can also enjoy your lunch at Restaurant Lozzi in Building P or at Restaurant Ilokivi in Building YOT, which are both located close to the venue. For locations, please consult the Map of University Campus in the conference folder.

 

MESSAGES FOR PARTICIPANTS

All messages for participants will be placed on the notice board on the ground floor of the venue close to Information Desk.

 

NOTICE BOARDS

Notice boards are located on the ground floor of the venue, next to Auditorium M103 and Conference Desk and on Thursday next to Auditorium A103 and Conference Desk. Possible changes and updates to the programme will be announced on the notice boards at the start of the day. On the notice boards, you will also find the sign-up sheets for workshops, and information on lunch menus in restaurants on the campus.

 

SMOKING POLICY

Smoking is prohibited indoors in public spaces and in public transportation in Finland, i.e. in the campus area you are only allowed to smoke outside. Please take notice of the signs TUPAKOINTI KIELLETTY (No smoking). Trains and some restaurants have a special smoking room.

 

SOCIAL PROGRAMME

 

STAFF ASSISTANCE

There will be several assistants who are responsible for taking care of the practical matters during the conference. They will be wearing blue name badges.

 

TIPPING

Tipping is not expected in restaurants, cafés or bars in Finland.

VENUE

The street address of the conference venue is Seminaarinkatu 15. Conference Desk is located in the Musica (Building M) lobby on the ground floor. The conference Rooms are M103, A103, D109, A104, D304, F105 and F106. Conference participants can also use the computer room X151 in Building X.
