Assessment

Research on language assessment in the CALS is approached from various points of view, both in the case of classroom assessment and language testing. Research on assessment is closely linked with language education policy and pedagogic issues in language learning as well as the quality of testing systems. In research, language testing can have various roles. On one hand, it can be used as a research instrument as in the case of collecting information about language learning, and on the other, it can be the object of research, for example, when the quality of test tasks or teachers’ views on assessment are investigated. Research is also involved in the development of testing systems such as the National Certificates of Language Proficiency. In the field of assessment, the CALS is both nationally and internationally renowned actor.
