Minna-Riitta Luukka

Minna-Riitta Luukka, Professor Finnish at the Department of Languages, is the leader of the project. Her research interests cover linguistic and critical discourse analysis, literacy, classroom interaction, teaching writing, and youth and media culture. In this project, she concentrates on mother tongue literacy practices, events and texts both in classroom and out-of-school contexts and, in particular, the teaching practices and textbooks of writing in mother tongue education. She examines pupils’ attitudes towards their mother tongue and their perceptions of their reading and writing skills. She is also in charge of analysing strategic documents and action plans dealing with language education policy as well as coordinating micro-level case studies in the second stage of the project.
