Progression of studies

Postgraduate studies in Applied Linguistics

The CALS offers postgraduate studies in Applied Linguistics leading to a doctoral or licentiate’s degree. We encourage students to commit themselves to doctoral studies, but a licentiate’s degree can naturally be an intermediate stage on the way to a doctorate. The licentiate’s degree could be particularly suitable for language teachers who do not want to continue to a doctoral degree but to develop their own work by doing research. Admission is always granted for the doctoral degree.

The extent of studies for a doctoral degree is 240 ECTS credits and for a licentiate’s degree 120 ECTS credits.

Doctoral studies at CALS follow the instructions given by the Doctoral School of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. CALS has supplemented these instructions with some specifications: Practices in doctoral training at CALS.
