Tips and links for postgraduate students

Funding your studies

In most cases, postgraduate students fund their studies themselves. The majority of postgraduate students at the CALS are working and studying at the same time.

The University of Jyväskylä, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the CALS support postgraduate studies with various funding opportunities. Students will be notified about them before the application round begins, which is usually in the autumn. University scholarships are not granted to persons employed by the University.

A precondition for applying for a scholarship is that the student has enrolled for attendance and has a valid supervision agreement. Progress in studies, various types of qualifications (e.g. conference papers, publications, and other activities) and recommendations by supervisors increase the chances of getting a scholarship. Up-to-date instructions on how to apply for a scholarship are available at the University web site (announcements).

In addition to the University of Jyväskylä, various foundations and funds grant scholarships.
